Saudi Arabian vessel ‘attacked off Yemen’
Tug Rabigh 3 reporting restricted manoeuvrability in the Southern Red Sea.
A Saudi Arabian fire-fighting tug has suffered some sort of attack in the southern Red Sea off Yemen.
The unspecified incident involved the 375-dwt Rabigh 3 (built 1987), 15 nautical miles west of Kamaran Island on Sunday, it is suspected.
The vessel was reporting restricted manoeuvrability on 6 November, its last AIS update.
Data shows the tug had left the Saudi Port of Jizan headed for Saleef in Yemen.
The report comes against a background of alleged Iranian attacks on international tankers over the summer, as well as Iranian allegations of attacks on three of its tankers off Saudi Arabia.
The ship is operated by Marine Services Co of Jeddah, which has been contacted for comment.
